Still here. Still healing.
I’m Becky. I’m Steve’s wife. I’m Emily, Mason, and Josh’s mom. I’m also a widow and lost my husband and my sons in a fatal car accident in October, 2020.
I write here to encourage and inspire others through my journey since the accident. Some stories are heavy, some are ridiculous, all are raw and honest. Some stories may be uncomfortable, some may touch your heart, all tell of how God shows up in experiences.
The best legacy I can leave and the best way to celebrate my guys isn’t through a commemorative park bench or a memorial brick at a ballpark. The legacy is in the stories and the opportunity my experiences might give me to offer you a safe place to receive compassion, love, companionship, and community.
Grief and healing are hard. They hurt. They confuse. They take us to dark valleys and show glimpses of clear skies and beautiful hope sometimes all in a moment. They isolate. They teach. The hardest part is the continued losses that emerge as time passes and the repeated realization that my guys are still not coming home. The best part is sitting in God’s classroom with my desk right next to the Teacher where He shows me how to navigate putting one foot in front of the other, always reminding with assurance and gentleness that my guys aren’t coming home because THEY ARE HOME, and I am still here.
I’m not a counselor, and I don’t have this figured out. If you are walking the loss or some hard times in life or even if my stories are a curiosity to you now, I’m glad you found this place. Your arrival has been prayed over for the past six years. Welcome.
